Take A Time Machine in BPC: From Landfill to Waterfront Community

« All Events

If the Skyscraper Museum gallery was a time machine and we traveled back 50 years, we’d be standing on sand! The neighborhood that is now Battery Park City was created as new land in the Hudson River, beginning with some excavations from the foundations for the original World Trade Center. In this program, we’ll time travel back forty years to see how artists turned landfill in Battery Park City into art projects, then imagine and draw our own projects for outdoor land art or public sculptures using photography. Recommended for 2nd-6th grade.

This program meets at the Skyscraper Museum, 39 Battery Pl. and is held principally outdoors. The gallery will be accessible: masks are required indoors. For outdoor activities, we follow currentNYS guidelines.

You must reserve a place for your child/family through the Eventbrite button. Every child should be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The maximum number of households per program is 20. In the event of bad weather, the rain date will be Saturday, July 24. We will notify you via Eventbrite.

Family programs are free! Reservation priority is given to Skyscrapers Museum members and residents of Battery Park City. Summer programs are supported by a Community Partnership with the Battery Park City Authority.
